Visa myth: A friend was approved, so I should be too

A friend’s visa approval does not predict the outcome of your application. Each application is assessed on its own circumstances and evidence.

The myth

“My friend got approved, so I should be approved too.”

The fact

No two visa applications are exactly alike. Even when people apply for the same visa, their circumstances, immigration histories and supporting evidence may differ.

An outcome in someone else’s case does not determine the outcome of yours. What worked for another applicant may not be relevant to your circumstances.

Focus on your own situation and the requirements that apply to the visa you are considering. Immigration New Zealand assesses applications; no adviser can guarantee an outcome.

If you are unsure about your situation or planning to apply, contact E&E Immigration to discuss your options.

Immigration policy and instructions can change. Confirm current requirements with Immigration New Zealand or a suitably qualified adviser. Immigration New Zealand makes visa decisions.
